| Sorry for the delay!!! | |
I am very sorry for not keeping everyone informed. I've been responding to every email I have received, but I just noticed all of the entries in the guestbook since last I logged on and realized I've been dropping the ball when it comes to this site! I (and a few testers) have been working VERY hard on a new star frontiers site that I know we'll all love taking part in. It's a community-based website designed for you and I to work together on projects and interface socially. It's been a big endeavor (and keeps getting bigger as we find that more features are necessary). On Issue #7: I was half done with it (I had 19 pages ready to go - and I usually consider around 24 pages to be my minimum - even though I've far exceeded that in issues past) and had a catastrophic hard drive failure on my laptop. And even though I preach to everyone in my career to back up everything, my laptop was not properly backed up. I haven't lost everything... but I'm awaiting return of the laptop hard drive from a recovery service and hope to have the drive back in 3-5 business days (as of yesterday). Then I should be able to finish it up. I'm very sorry I'm late. The new web site is almost ready. A few finishing touches and I'll announce the url to everyone. Can't wait to see you all there!

| Announcement | |
Hello everyone. I noticed (by the hit counter on this page) that people are stopping by to grab the next issue of the StarFrontiersman. I know I'm late with it and want to apologize for the delay (especially to all of the contributers excited to see their efforts in print). Summer time is busy for all of us: corporate fiscal years end and start, resulting in increased business; family members in sporting events; outdoor activities with friends; yardwork/landscaping; honeydo lists.... the list goes on. I have decided to focus my efforts on the community website I spoke about so much and have not been delivering. Therefore, August's issue of the StarFrontiersman will not be released. September's issue will be Issue #7. I don't know if this will be an annual trend or not, but it may. Please continue submitting, as it would be GREAT if I actually could get a backlog of submissions so I'm not always scrambling for material each month. I haven't lost my excitement for the project nor have I lost my ambition or dedication to quality over quantity. I am sorry for not meeting my commitment, and plan to work hard this month delivering the new website! I don't procrastinate; I prioritize. Yes, you can quote that. (c) Bill Logan 2007. Needs to be on a t-shirt somewhere haha... I have been working out the kinks in the community site and it's going to be ready for use fairly soon. I hope to see you all there when I go live with it. It's gonna be fun! I'll try to have it done so September's issue of the 'Frontiersman can sport an article on how to get the best out of the website.

The attractive map made for us Star Frontiersman lovers in issue #6 had a bunch of compression interpolation errors. I really wanted all of you to have it in its proper form... so I've put the original PNG file in the Sheets & Stuff section. Download it and print it out on a quality color printer... I did and it looks fantastic. Kudos to Darrell C. L. Donald and his mad graphic design skills. Darrell is also working on a remake of the Serena Dawn map from Crash on Volturnus. I've seen a work-in-progress and think he does some of the best mapwork I've seen this side of professionally-published stuff. Let's hope he continues to put out these amazing quality maps and doesn't get snatched up by WOTC or one of the other giants!! The maps he makes are useful for virtual tabletop gaming as well as old-fashioned tabletop gaming. He's definitely someone to keep an eye on for future issues of the StarFrontiersman!
